Obituary of Conrad R. Schmidt

Conrad Robert Schmidt, 68, of Stroudsburg, passed away quietly at home on Thursday, June 29, 2017. He was the husband of Patricia Reese, with whom he shared 39 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of Mildred (Eisemann) Schmidt and the late Conrad Schmidt, Sr.

Conrad was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and attended Harvard University. He spent his career as a chemist and chemical engineer. During his later years, he was a tutor at the local Northampton Community College.

He was an avid birder and played a pivotal role in the start of the Pennsylvania Bird Atlas. His love of nature kept him involved in local outdoor projects such as bird counts and the annual Bioblitzes.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his children, Gregory and Gretchen Schmidt; brother, Paul Schmidt and sister, Nancy Ziemba.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
