Obituary of Francis J. Dowd

Francis J. “Buddy” Dowd, 81, of Pocono Lake, died on Monday, July 11, 2017 at Lehigh Valley Pocono Hospital in East Stroudsburg. He was the loving husband of Elaine (Kology) Dowd with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

Born in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Quinn) Dowd.

A proud veteran, Francis served with the United States Navy from 1955-1957. He loved family and friends, finding every opportunity to hang out with his kids and grandkids or shoot pool with the boys.

In addition to his wife, Elaine, he is survived by his daughter, Diane Kelly and her husband Brian of Staten Island and two grandchildren; James and Jackie. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Dowd.

There will be a viewing on Saturday, July 15 from 12-3 pm at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Reverend Father Gregory Loughney will conduct a blessing service at 3pm at the funeral home.

Private cremation is entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
