Obituary of Martha Powell

Martha Powell, 70, of Pocono Lake, died Wednesday, February 1 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre. She was the wife of the late William Thomas Powell. Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow W. and Ruth (Yocum) Avrett. Before moving to the Poconos, Martha worked as a registered nurse. She was currently working in member services at Arrowhead Lakes for the past 15 years. Martha was active in the Arrowhead Seniors, was an avid reader and Bingo player, and enjoyed visiting the casinos. She is survived by a son, William Michael Powell of Trevose; a daughter, Pamela Wagner of Blakeslee; a sister, Doris Grantham of Georgia; one granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Wagner of Bensalem and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, William, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Wagner. Private cremation was entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
