Obituary of Melvin George Gaige

Melvin George Gaige, 51, of Tobyhanna, died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at his home. He was the loving husband of Christina J. (Kelly) Gaige, with whom he shared 20 years of marriage.

Born in Scranton, he was a son of Eleanor (Cheesebro) Gaige of Tobyhanna, and the late Harry Edward Gaige.

Mel treasured working in their garden, loved NASCAR and was a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan.

In addition to his wife and his beloved dogs, Taco, Blue, and Red; he is survived by his brother, Dennis Gaige and his companion, Sonja of Black Lake, New York; his nieces, Janis Gaige of Olyphant and Corrin Gaige Calvey of Scranton; stepson, Ralph Rey of Stroudsburg;  two step-granddaughters, Chyna and Hunter Rey and a step-grandson, Shawn Rey all of Stroudsburg; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  Mel was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Gaige.

There will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, September 29 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
