Obituary of Roger Lee Davis

Roger Lee Davis, 76, of Mount Pocono, died Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore with his son, Michael at his bedside. He was the loving husband of the late Hannelore A. (Hoffert) Davis, whom passed away in 2014.

Born in North Tazewell, Virginia, he was the son of the late Phillip A. and Valia E. (King) Davis.

He is survived by his son, Michael of Ramstein Air Base in Germany; sister-in-law, Carola and her husband, Ernst, as well as niece, Lydia of Germany; and sister, Betty Jo of Kansas.  Roger was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dale.

Roger graduated from Tazewell High School in 1958. After graduation, he joined the United Stated Army in 1959 and served tours in Vietnam and Korea. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1985 and began working civil service for the government. Roger left Germany in 2000 and finished his civil service career in 2002 at the Tobyhanna Army Depot.

An avid hunter, he had a love of the outdoors. He liked to fish, but only from a boat that met with his approval.  He was an active skeet and trap shooter and represented the American based team in Germany, while participating in competitions throughout Europe.

There will no services at this time; private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
