Obituary of Irma L. Woolbert

Irma L. Woolbert. 97, of Roaring Brook Township, formerly of Pocono Summit, died Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Geisinger CMC in Scranton. She was the loving wife of the late James A. Woolbert, Sr.

 Born in Manhattan, New York, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Field) Kaiser. She was a graduate of New York University. 

She and her husband had a vacation home at Pocono Summit Lake for many years, upon retirement; they made this their permanent residence. Irma remained extremely active throughout the years. She was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer program serving in the Pocono Mountain School in Mrs. Ann Mitchell’s 1st grade class. She was also active with the historical society and volunteered at both the Barrett Library and the Pocono Mountain Library, where she repaired book bindings. She was a member of Most Holy Trinity Parish and member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry and also worked at the election poll at Pocono Summit.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Woolbert and wife, Jennifer Cosgrove of West Hartford, Connecticut; daughters, Patricia Woolbert of Queens, New York, and Kathleen Ulkoski and her husband, David of Roaring Brook Township; grandchildren, Jessika Lunney, Jennifer Woolbert, James Woolbert, III, Rebecca Hines, David Ulkoski and Steven Cosgrove; great-grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Michael, Emma and Alexa; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Irma was preceded in death by her a son, James A. Woolbert, Jr. and sister, Norma Albers.

The family would like to thank the staff and friends from St. Mary’s Villa Residence for making the last year comfortable and supportive.

There will be a viewing from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 8 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, November  9 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, Pocono Pines. Reverend Father Sean Carpenter will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Private cremation is entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
