Obituary of John F. Sturges

John F. Sturges, 57, of Tobyhanna, died Thursday, November 9, 2017 at home. He was the fiancé of Justine Debuono of Tobyhanna.


Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of Patricia (Guckin) Sturges and the late Joseph Sturges.


A proud Veteran, John served with the United States Navy. He worked as a Vascular Ultrasound Technician at Lehigh Valley Hospital- Pocono in East Stroudsburg. John was an avid outdoorsman, who spent as much time as he could fishing, hunting or just taking in the fresh mountain air. He was an avid sports fan and huge supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. His biggest pride was his family, whom he adored, especially his grandson, Caiden.


In addition to his mother, and fiancé, he is survived by his children, Janice Rosemier and her husband, Sean of New York, John Sturges and his wife, Jenine of Trevose, and Caitlin Sturges and her husband, Ryan of Tobyhanna; former wife and friend; Cathryn Sturges of Tobyhanna; siblings, Joseph Sturges and his wife, Cindy, Jim Sturges and his wife, Sue, Steven Sturges, Thomas Sturges and his wife, Marlena, and Kristine Aikens and her husband, James; grandson, Caiden, and many nieces and nephews.


There will be a viewing from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 14 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. Reverend Father Gregory Loughney will conduct a blessing service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. November 15 at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown.
