Obituary of Arthur C. Gray

Arthur C. Gray, 78, of Cresco, died Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest in Allentown. He was the loving husband of Joan (Berger) Gray, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.

Born in Scranton, he was the only son of the late Arthur Chester and Anna (Bahr) Gray.

Arthur moved to the Poconos at age three. He was a graduate of Tobyhanna Township High School, class of 1958. After high school, Arthur served in the Army Reserve for six years and studied Elementary Education at East Stroudsburg State Teachers College, before earning his Master's Degree in Education from Lehigh University.  He taught reading and served as head teacher for five years at Pocono Elementary Center. Arthur then served as principal at J.M. Hill School in East Stroudsburg Area School District for 25 years, retiring in 1993. After retirement, he served a three year term as Barrett Township Supervisor. Arthur was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed spending time at Loomis Lake, where he was a member of the Lake Association, and also Black Lake in New York.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Chadd Gray and his wife, Kathleen of Cresco; daughter, Shannon Wagner and her husband, James of Cresco; grandchildren, Kyle and Meghan Gray, and Brett Wagner.

As per Arthur's request, there will be no public services.

Memorial donations may be made to the Barrett Township Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 1, Buck Hill Falls, PA 18323.

Private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
