Obituary of Therese "Terry" Quinn

 

Therese “Terry” M. (O’Brien) Quinn, 88, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Elderwood at Liverpool. She was born in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Kelly) O’Brien, Sr. She attended PS # 203 and Catherine McAuley Catholic High School in Brooklyn, NY. She married John “Jack” Quinn, Jr. on January 31, 1953 and worked For New York Life Insurance Company in NYC for 11 years. Terry completed her education receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Art Education and her Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Hofstra University. After graduation, Terry and Jack moved to Valley Stream, LI where she worked in the Valley Stream School District for many years. In 1992 they moved to their vacation home in Lake Naomi, Pocono Pines, PA. After her husband’s death Terry became an active parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish (formerly Our Lady of the Lake Church). Terry enjoyed watercolor painting, taking many classes in the area.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews; Joan Barker, of Norman,OK, Jeanne Buttler of Tulsa, OK, Maureen O’Brien of Bellingham, WA, Eileen O’Brien of Galveston, TX, Colleen Sturgis of Fulton, NY, Patrick Murphy, Kathleen Grome both of Liverpool, NY and her sister-in-law, Beatrix Murphy of Liverpool, NY.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 10:00 am to 11:00am in St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 5112 Pocono Crest Road, Pocono Pines, PA 18350, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 am. The Rite of Committal and burial will be in Pocono Lake Cemetery.

The Quinn family would like to thank the nurses and aides of the 3rd floor at Elderwood at Liverpool for the care and compassion given to Terry in her final days.
