Obituary of Patricia Daniels

Patricia M. Daniels of Canadensis, passed away on Saturday, February 11, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Curtis Bay, MD, she was the daughter of the late Albert Max and Leona Gast. Along with her husband, Chick Daniels, "Patsy" developed and operated a successful basketball camp called Camp Swiftwater which is now the site of High Acres Park in Canadensis. It eventually spread to the nearby Glenmere Inn and together they created and operated Daniels Top-O-The Poconos, a popular family resort since 1968. A beautiful person inside and out, Pat will be missed as a dedicated and gracious hostess of her resort. She often said that her German maiden name, Gast, translated to "guest" and she was therefore in the right line of business. A charming person who genuinely was interested in the lives of others, Pat enjoyed making friends with everyone she met. She also enjoyed vacationing in Daytona Beach, Florida. As a most devoted and loving mother and grandmother, her greatest passion was spending time with her family, to whom she will leave a great void. Her family would also like to include a special thanks to her compassionate caregivers: Melba Alverio, Linda Sommers, Regina Scheidler, and Ana Paul. She is survived by two sons, Chuck Daniels of Canadensis and his wife Carole, Matt Daniels of Canadensis and his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Susan Roberti of Bethel, Maine and her husband, Tom; daughter-in-law, Noel Daniels of Swiftwater; a brother, Robert Gast of Baltimore, MD and his wife, Fran; grandchildren, Matt, Jenny Lee, Max, Bailey, and Brodie Daniels, Kate and Thomas Roberti; step-grandson, Brian Allen, and many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Daniels, a brother, Albert Gast, and ex-husband, Chick Daniels. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 15 at 2:30 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road in Cresco. There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Private cremation was entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or by phone at 1-800-822-6344
