Obituary of Thomas Yau, Sr.

Thomas Yau, Sr. 54, of Tobyhanna, died unexpectedly, Saturday, January 13, 2018. He was the loving husband of Mildred (Kendle) Yau, with whom he shared 27 years of marriage.

Born in New York, New York, he was a son of the late Weng Hoi and Wai Lam (Moy) Yau.

Thomas was employed with Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono as a Senior Engineer.  A talented musician, he played bass in many local cover bands, including the Worship Team at Innovation Church in Cresco, where he was also a member. Before moving to the Pocono’s he was a member of a popular band, “Worlds Apart” in New York.

Thomas was an integral part of his church family. You would often find him greeting attendees with a warm smile, a big hug, or kind words of scripture. His church community was just as important to him as his family, whom he adored, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mildred, he is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Floyd and her husband, Kenneth Jr.  of East Stroudsburg; sons, Thomas Yau Jr. and Christopher Yau both of Tobyhanna; siblings, Raymond Yau and his wife, Anne of Queens, NY, Frances O'Reilly and her husband, Kevin Sr. of the United Kingdom, Marilyn Yau of Queens, NY, and Mei Ling of Florida; grandchildren, Jaslyn, Kayden, and Jayce; niece, Barbara Yau and her husband, Wil Yip; nephews, Alexander, Brandon, Jason and Kevin Jr.; great-nieces, Kyra and Vivian.

There will be a visitation from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm Saturday, January 20 at Bolock
Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. Pastor Charles Kollar will conduct
a memorial service at (2:00pm) at the funeral home.
