Obituary of Yvonne T. Sherkness

Yvonne T. Sherkness, 73, of Long Pond, died Thursday, March 29, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital - Monroe Campus in Bartonsville. She was the loving wife of Alphonse Sherkness, with whom she shared 38 years of marriage.

Born in the Bronx, New York, she was a daughter of the late George and Margaret (Hanrahan) Zilliox.

She received her Master's degree from Fordham University and taught high school in Bayonne, New Jersey. Yvonne lived in the Poconos for over 20 years. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sister, Celeste Dymnicki and her husband, Frank of Sarasota, Florida; brother and sister-in-law, George Sherkness and his wife, Joann of Coconut Creek, Florida; niece, Allison Chusen; nephews: David Dymnicki, Marc Sherkness and Alphonse Sherkness; god daughter, Maureen Toglia and her sister, Lauren Toglia.

There will be a visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 12 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. Reverend Father Gregory Loughney will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13 at St. Ann's Church, Main Street, Tobyhanna. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in Swiftwater.

Private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
