Obituary of Harry O. D'Onofrio
Harry O. D’Onofrio, 87, of Pocono Lake, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Harry leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Alma (nee Pasciuto); his daughter Janet Brooks, her husband Mark, and their sons Michael and Daniel; son James; daughter Grace Amstutz, her husband Peter, and their daughters Nicole, Elizabeth and Kimberly. Harry also leaves behind his sister Theresa Martorelli, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Harry worked construction with his father after high school. He served during the Korean War in the 1950s.
He married Alma in 1956 and entered the New York City Fire Department in 1960, driving for Ladder 147. He retired in 1976.
He settled in Locust Lake Village and was very active in the operations of the community he dearly loved. He enjoyed reading thrillers, painting, and playing cards with friends and family. He especially looked forward to visits with his five grandchildren and was very proud of all of them.
There will be a viewing from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 27 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road. Reverend Father Sean Carpenter will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 5112 Pocono Crest Road, Pocono Pines. Entombment will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 30 at the Cemetery of the Resurrection, 361 Sharrott Ave., Staten Island, New York 10309.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project-Honor & Memorial, whose website is WoundedWarriorProject.org.
