Obituary of Lawrence J. Lukowiak

Lawrence "Larry" John Lukowiak, 86, of Mount Pocono, beloved husband of Joan Marie (Bell) Lukowiak, left this earthly existence on Friday, May 11, 2018 to be welcomed into God's awaiting arms.

He was born August 5, 1931 in Patterson, New Jersey, the son of the late Mary (Sliva) and Frank Lukowiak.

Larry was a 1948 graduate of Belleville High School in New Jersey. He was an aircraft mechanic in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Larry was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, and a life member of the 4th degree Knights. He also was a thirty-nine year member of the American Legion. Larry worked for General Electric for ten years, and Wallace and Tiernan or what is now Pennwalt Industries for thirty years, as a tool and die maker. He loved to bowl and was involved in many bowling leagues, his favorite being a mixed bowling league with his wife.

He was the father of James Loehwing and his wife, Marge, Rudy Loehwing and his wife, Claire, and Diane (Loehwing) Catanzaro and her companion, Larry Lewis. He also leaves his grandchildren, Rudy Douglas, Anna, Melanie, Samantha, Jacquelynn, Ian, Andrew, Aspasia, Tess, Kelly, Christopher, and Annie; 13 great-grandchildren; and was an uncle to many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his siblings, Agnes, Anne, Marion, Eleanor, and Frank Jr.

There will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 24 at the Villa of Our Lady, 245 Meadowside Road, Mount Pocono. Reverend Father Gregory Loughney will celebrate a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at the Villa. Interment will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery, Veterans Section, 901 Bryant Street, Stroudsburg.
