Obituary of Andrew J. Wash
Andrew J. Wash, 89, of Tobyhanna, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital Monroe in Bartonsville. He was the loving husband of Bertholda (Kirchschlager) Wash, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Tobyhanna, he was a son of the late Michael and Katherine (Zvuch) Wash.
A proud Veteran, Andrew served with the United States Air force during the WWII, Korean, and Vietnam War. He was a Bronze Star recipient and retired after 22 years in the military. After his military retirement, he worked 22 years for Salk Institute until his retirement in 1990. Andrew was a member of the VFW Post 509 in Tobyhanna.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: Peter Wash of Rantoul, Illinois; Eric Wash of Sciota; Andrew Wash, Jr. of Brownsburg Indiana; and Thomas Wash of Pittsburgh; daughter, Elisabeth Wash of Prescott, Arizona; brother, Thomas Wash of Florida; sisters: Margaret Bourque of South Carolina; and Katherine Howell of Kunkletown; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
There will be a viewing from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 25 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. Reverend Father Gregory Loughney will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26 at St. Ann's Church, Main Street, Tobyhanna. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
