Obituary of Joseph S. Brill

Joseph S. Brill, 90, of Canadensis, formerly of Hometown, passed away on August 24, 2018 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest,  with his loving family gathered at his side.

Born in Fountain Springs, he was the son of that late Robert and Marjorie (Moore) Brill.  He was the loving husband of Kathryn (Polansky) Brill for 69 years.

Joseph attended St. Canicus School in Mahanoy City and then immediately started working for the railroad.  At retirement he was working for the Lehigh Valley Railroad as a yardmaster.  He enjoyed running his Lionel train set 12 months out of the year.  He was an honorary member of the Hometown and Lehighton Fire Companies.

In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by his daughters: Kathleen Loeb and husband Keith of Hamburg; Debbie Turks and husband Michael of Allentown; Beverly O’Lear and husband Jeff of Canadensis; his son David Brill and wife Doreen (Demnitski) of Macungie: his sister Roberta Massarro of Tamaqua: his grandchildren Eric Wood of Deer Lake; Sara Turks of Annapolis, Maryland;  Derrick Loeb and Heather Kuhn of Hamburg: and six great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sister Ethel Culp.

The Reverend Father Gregory Loughney will celebrate a mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, at the Villa of Our Lady, 245 Meadowside Road, Mt. Pocono, PA.  There will be a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m at the Villa of our Lady. Interment to follow at Skyview Memorial Cemetery, Hometown, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Capital Campaign at Most Holy Trinity Parish, 236 Route 390, Cresco, PA 18326.
