Obituary of Patricia M. Dente

Patricia "Patti" M. Dente, 69, of Canadensis, passed away surrounded by her beloved family, Wednesday September 19, 2018 at Lehigh Valley - Pocono Hospice in East Stroudsburg. She was the loving wife of Philip Dente, with whom she shared 30 years of marriage.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late William and Irene "Toby" (Rosar) Phillips.

Patti was the co-founder along with her husband, Philip of The Village View Community Newspaper of Barrett Township, which was first published in June 2000. She created the original column, "Neighbors," which was quite popular and ran for 15 years.

Patti made her love for her family her number one priority in life, although her second priority was scaring the heck out of whoever was within "scaring" distance, especially during Halloween. Her wisdom was appreciated by everyone near and dear to her, as she had a great insight about "life." She will be missed tremendously by her loved ones.

In addition to husband, she is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, George and Barbara Jenkins; children: Ryan Locher and his wife, Angela; Heather Schratt and her husband, Shane; nieces: Kendra Riccio; Kristen Jenkins and her husband, Russell; Megan Barrett and her husband, Nathan; stepchildren: Thomas Dente; Kenneth Dente; and Philip Dente III; grandchildren: Savannah Schratt; Logan Schratt; Braedon Locher; and six step grandchildren, along with eight nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, Patti was preceded in death by her brother, William "Squeek" Phillips Jr.

There will be a visitation from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, September 23 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care 502 VNA RoadEast Stroudsburg, PA 18301.

Private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
