Obituary of John Welter
John H. Welter, 86, of Cresco, died on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the VNA Hospice House in East Stroudsburg. He was the loving husband of Pearl (Henry) Welter.
Born in Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Harold Welter and Emma Ruth (Swink) Cramer.
A veteran of the United States Navy, he had served during WWII in Guam as a Sea Bee. He worked as a printer at Hughes printing in East Stroudsburg for 45 years until his retirement and was a former member of the Acme Hose Co. in East Stroudsburg. He was an avid outdoorsman who liked to hunt and fish and also enjoyed bowling, playing cards and Nascar racing.
In addition to his wife, Pearl, he is also survived by three daughters: Gail Grant and her husband William of East Stroudsburg, Susan Ruggiero and her husband Michael of East Bangor, Bonnie Rhode and her husband Charles of Biglerville; two sisters: Effie Siegfried of Scranton, Mary Lou Missall of North Fort Myers, FL; five grandchildren: Shawn Fitzpatrick, Brad Fitzpatrick, Michael Ruggiero, Christopher Ruggiero, Ciara Grant ; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by: a sister; Dorothy Lee; and two brothers: Jay Welter and Kenneth Welter.
There will be a visitation on Monday, February 27 from 10:30 to 11:30 am at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. Pastor George Alt will conduct a memorial service at 11:30 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cherry Valley Cemetery in Cherry Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shepherds in Monroe County, 300 Wisteria Commons, Cresco, PA 18326.
