Obituary of Donald Coleman Mader

Donald C. Mader, 83, of Cresco, died Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at his home. He was the loving husband of the late D. Patricia (Marr) Mader, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

Born in Paradise Township, he was a son of the late Elmer C. and Elsie A. (Ruehlman) Mader.

Donald served as the tax collector for Paradise Township for 44 years and was a member of the state tax collectors association. He worked for A & P Supermarket for 42 years. Donald was a generous man, who did for others before himself.  He founded Paradise Little League and coached for over 20 years. Donald was president of the Paradise Community Center now known as the Roof.

He is survived by his daughter, Mimi DeHaven and her husband, Randy of Cresco; four sons: Stephen Mader and his wife, Deidra, Brian Mader and his wife, Linda, Michael Mader, Bill Mader and his wife, Christina, all of Cresco; brother-in-law, Harold Metzgar of Swiftwater; nine grandchildren: Scott, Adam, Hannah, Emily, and Morgan Mader and Mandy, Mike, Michelle, and Megan DeHaven; along with several nieces, nephews, and friends. Donald was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Metzgar.

There will be a visitation from 9 to 11:15 a.m. Saturday, October 13 at Bolock Funeral Home Crematory, 6148 Paradise Valley Road. A graveside service will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Keokee Chapel Cemetery, Keokee Chapel Road, Paradise Valley.
