Obituary of Jerome Corey

Jerome J. Corey, 65, of Pocono Summit, died on Monday, February 27, 2012 at his home. He was the son of the late Eugene and Helen (Martin) Corey. A veteran on the United States Marine Corps he had served during Vietnam. Jerome received many distinguished medals and honors during his time in the service including the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Rifle Marksman Qualification Badge. He loved and proudly served his country. He was a member of St. Mary of the Mount Church. He was a talented wood carver, an unbeatable chess player and a proud supporter of the New York Yankees. Above all, he loved his daughters and spending time with his family. He is survived by two daughters: Christine Purrazzella and her husband Douglas of Brooklyn, NY, Melissa Semioli and her husband Frank of Staten Island, NY; two sisters: Mary Corey of Staten Island, NY, Helen Marchetti of Staten Island, NY; close friends: Edward Klingle and his wife Denise of Cresco; and three grandchildren: Michael Purrazzella, Amanda Semioli and Matthew Purrazzella. There will be a visitation on Thursday, March 1 from 9-10:00 am at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road in Cresco. Reverend Father Gregory Loughney will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am at St. Mary of the Mount Church, 27 Fairview Avenue in Mt. Pocono. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans Attention: GIFT PROCESSING, PO Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. Cremation was entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
