Obituary of John Smith

John A. Smith, 84, died Tuesday, April 10th at home in Pocono Lake. He was the loving husband of Zoe (Shafer) Smith. Born in Blakeslee, he was the son of the late Adam and Clarissa (Blakeslee) Smith. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he served during WWII. For approximately forty years, John, was employed in the Pharmaceutical Industry. He started work with the National Drug Company, remained through many company changes and finally with Sanofi Pasteur before his illness. John belonged to the American Legion Wilson Fischer Post #413. He sang with Fred Waring's Shawnee Choir for many years and was the Choir director at Salem UCC for both the children's and adult choirs. In his free time John loved to play golf and bowl. In addition to his wife, Zoe, he is survived by a son Michael Smith of Pocono Lake; a daughter Hazel Fairservice and her husband Robert of Tobyhanna; a brother Richard Smith of Pocono Lake; a sister Emily Carter and her husband Harold of Pocono Lake; two grandchildren Andrea Fairservice of Hatboro and Brian Fairservice of Tobyhanna and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Jake and Robert Smith; and a sister Virginia Dolan. Private cremation was entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home and Crematory INC.
