Obituary of Herbert Schaefer

Herbert G. Schaefer, 98, of Blakeslee, died on Friday, May 4, 2012 at the VNA Hospice House in East Stroudsburg. He was the loving husband of the late Beatrice (Bost) Schaefer. Born in Maspeth, NY he was the son of the late George and Anna (Deitz) Schaefer. A veteran of the United States Navy, he had served during WWII. Herbert worked as a paint chemist for Tenax Finishing Products in Newark, NJ until his retirement. He was a member of Pocono Lake United Methodist Church. He is survived by a daughter: Joanne Brunetto of Blakeslee; a son: Wayne Schaefer of Hartsville, SC; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son: Ronald A. Schaefer and a sister: Florence L. Schaefer. Pastor John Smith will conduct a memorial service on Saturday, May 19 at 1:00 pm at the Pocono Lake United Methodist Church, 1180 Route 940 in Pocono Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Herbert's honor may be made to the Pocono Lake United Methodist Church, HC Box 4C Pocono Lake, PA 18347-0200 or to the VNA Hospice House of Monroe County, 502 Independence East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
