Obituary of Ann Pope
Ann M. Pope, 87, formerly of Tobyhanna, died on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Mountain View Care Center in Scranton where she was currently residing. She was the loving wife of the late Allen L. Pope who passed away on November 13, 1997 after 46 years of marriage.
Born in Jessup, PA on July 12, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Anna (Donahue) Lally.
She was a member of St. Ann's Church in Tobyhanna. A graduate of Jessup High School and Marywood College in Scranton. She taught at Pocono Mountain High School for 36 years until her retirement in 1981.
Ann was a member of The Tobyhanna Depot Women's Club, the VFW Auxiliary; Rotary Anns and Friends of Mt. Pocono and Pocono Farms Women's Clubs in Tobyhanna. She was also a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, the Pennsylvania State Education Association and an active volunteer for the American Red Cross for 25 years.
She is survived by a son: Allen L. Pope, Jr., his wife Angela (Ryan) Pope, and two granddaughter's whom she adored: Virginia Marie and Elizabeth Ryan Pope all of Tobyhanna. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Jack, Edward, and Joseph Lally; and two sisters: Clair and Mary Lally.
There will be a viewing on Monday, May 28 from 2-4 & 7-8:30 pm at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road in Cresco. The Reverend Father Joseph Kopacz will celebrate a Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, May 29 at 10:00 am the Church of St. Ann in Tobyhanna. Burial will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Moscow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ann's honor may be made to Most Holy Trinity, 27 Fairview Ave, Mt. Pocono, PA 18344 or to the American Red Cross, PO Box 4002018 Des Moines, IA 50340-2018 . The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Eugene Harasym and the entire staff at the Mountain View Care Center for their care and compassion.
