Obituary of Walter Stange
Walter J. Stange, Sr., 74, of Mt. Pocono, died Thursday, February 3 at Mercy Hospital in Scranton. He was the husband of Bernice (Pedersen) Stange.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Alfred and Sophie (David) Stange.
Before his retirement, Walter was employed as a Security System Analyst for Verizon, was a life member of the Verizon Pioneers, and served as former President of the Telephone Pioneers. As an active community volunteer, he was an associate member of the Mt. Pocono Fire Department, a volunteer for RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), and was a member of the Barger Lodge 325 F&AM of Pennsylvania.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing and gardening. Walter was also a collector of military memorabilia.
In addition to his wife, Bernice, he is survived by three children, Laura Simeone and her husband Joseph of Mt. Pocono, Walter Stange, Jr. and his wife Jeanne of Woodstown, NJ, Robin Garneau and her husband Michael also of Woodstown, NJ; and five grandchildren, Rosanne and Lynette Simeone, Nicole and William Stange, and Larissa Garneau.
The Reverend Father Kopacz will conduct a Blessing Service at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 7 at the Bolock Funeral Home, route 940 in Cresco. There will be a viewing on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Cremation is entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
