Obituary of Alfred Bynum
Alfred Glen Bynum, 81, of Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, died on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Weatherwood Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. He was loving husband to the late Pauline (Pope) Bynum, of Tobyhanna for over 57 years.
Born in Brownfield, Texas he was the son of the late Travis and Louella (Hall) Bynum.
A U. S. Air Force veteran, Alfred also worked as a senior executive contract engineer for the United States Government directing satellite control operations at U.S. Air Force Satellite Control Facilities worldwide in Alaska, California, New Hampshire, Guam, Seychelles Islands, Greenland, Hawaii and Colorado before his retirement. Al was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and camping. He was an active member of the Tobyhanna United Methodist Church where he was part of the United Methodist's Men and served as a volunteer in many community projects.
He is survived by two sons: Alan Bynum and his wife Laura of Springfield, VA; Greg Bynum and hiswife Levy of Buena Park, CA; a daughter: Mellinee Capasso and her husband Vincent of Plymouth, MA; a brother: Robert Bynum of Nice, CA and nine grandchildren: Rachael and Hannah Bynum; David (Pam), Daniel (Maria), Darren (Laura) Scheidt; Shawna and Elijah Bynum, and Christopher (Barbara) and Alexander (Emily) Capasso. He was preceded by his brother Tom Bynum and sister Betty Dunn, and grandson Dante Capasso.
Pastor Jon Hall will conduct a memorial service followed by a reception on Wednesday, August 15th at 5:30pm at the Tobyhanna United Methodist Church, Main Street in Tobyhanna. The family will receive guests from 5pm until the time of the service. A grave-side service will take place Saturday, August 18th, 11:30am at Edgewood Cemetery, 107 Amherst Street, Nashua, NH.
