Obituary of Irene Shimko

Irene Shimko (January 16, 1928 - August 28, 2012) Irene Shimko, 84,of Tobyhanna, died on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at home. She was the loving wife of Michael J. Shimko, to whom she was married for 60 years. Born in Warrior Run, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ladimer and Mary (Mosley) Krenitski. Before retirement she worked as a waitress at Johnnies Restaurant in Pocono Summit. She was a member of St. Ann's Church. Irene loved bingo and enjoyed trips to the Casino. In addition to her husband, Michael, she is survived by her two daughters: Michaelene Frederick and husband Bruce of Pocono Pines; Mary Skierski and husband Stephen of Scott Township; sister: Helen Racz of Milford CT.; three grandchildren: Christopher Raymond, Danielle Raymond and Stephen Skierski; beloved dogs: Augi and Logan. She was preceded in death by three brothers: John, Michael and Joseph Krenitski; one sister: Mary Mikitka. There will be a viewing on Thursday, August 30 from 6-8:30 pm, at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road in Cresco. The Reverend Father Joseph Kopacz will celebrate a Mass of Christian burial on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 10:00 am, at St. Ann's Church in Tobyhanna. Burial will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Moscow, Pa.
