Obituary of Barbara Dobbins

Quietly passed away at home, in the loving arms of her family on 09/14/2012, the late Mrs. Barbara Ann Dobbins of Saylorsburg, beloved wife of Raymond, much loved mother of Loriann and Courtney, blessed son-in-laws Donald and Phillip, and cherished grandmother of Michaela, Devin and Samuel. Born in Corona, NY, with roots in Ireland she was one of eight children of the late Bernard and Augusta Clark. At the tender age of 15, she met her best friend and soul-mate Raymond. Several years later, these two fell in love, married and lived life to the fullest together everyday for forty-nine years. Barbara was a most modern woman having a wide range of careers. In her earlier years of marriage she worked in a hospital as an EKG tech. When starting a family she spent many years as a homemaker and developed a passion for cooking. Later on, when her children headed off to school she found a job working with in the school to be available to her family. Her path led her to a Dietary Director's position for eleven school districts' food programs. She made healthy food fun to eat, before it was a trend. Then, evolved her passion into her own business as East End Catering on L.I. When children arrived she once again put family first and was a stay at home grandma. When her "little grand chicks" left for school she too found a new career in banking, finally retiring in 2003 from Fleet Bank, N.A. as Head Teller. Barbara and Ray loved to travel the world, even with her lifetime of illness. She never stopped enjoying life and was grateful for everyday. She laughed and loved. In her own words: "Every birthday is a reason to celebrate, everyday a gift, and live everyday as if it were your last." Those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her big heart, kindness and pure goodness brought so much joy to all who knew her.
