Obituary of Ronald Porter
Ronald F. Porter Sr., 63, of Tobyhanna, died on Saturday Sept 15th at home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of 43 years to Patricia (Sheridan) Porter.
Born in Paterson, NJ, he was the son of the late William and Margaret (VanHart) Porter. He was a lifelong resident of Paterson, NJ until moving to PA 20 years ago.
A veteran of the United States Navy he served during the Vietnam War. He worked for Witco Chemical Company for 20 years and also had a business as a tile setter with his brother for many years.
Ronald had many titles. Husband, Father, Uncle, but his most cherished title was called Grandfather. He spent many days with his grandkids watching movies, doing family history, playing games, and teaching them. He was always there for people and would never turn away a person in need.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by his three sons: Ronald Porter Jr. of Marshalls Creek, Jamie Porter of Tobyhanna, and Raymond Porter of Tobyhanna; one daughter: Judy Ann Porter of Stroudsburg; 3 daughter in laws, three brothers: Kenny Schoonmaker, William Porter and Raymond Porter; one sister: Kathy Carter; and five grandchildren; Joshua, Jordan, Kailey, Braden, and Olivia. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother: Dennis Porter; and a sister: Margaret Schoonmaker.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday, September 19 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road in Cresco. The Reverend Father Joseph Kopacz will celebrate a Mass of Christian of burial on Thursday, September 20 at 10:00 am at St. Mary of Mount Church, 27 Fairview Avenue in Mt. Pocono. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of Monroe County, 502 VNA Road East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
