Obituary of Stella Vogt
Stella Vogt, 87, of Scottsdale, AZ and formerly of Barrett Township, died on Friday, February 8, 2013 at the Avalon Home Care Center in Arizona. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph Vogt.
Born on January 11, 1926 in Panther, PA she was the daughter of the late Tony and Mary (Lanski) Yarmosh.
Stella began her modeling career on Fifth Avenue in New York City at Russack's Department Store during the 1940's. She later returned to Pennsylvania where she married her husband, Joe and began a family. In 1955, Stella started working for the Cresco Post Office as a clerk and then transferred to the Mountainhome Post Office where she became Postmistress in 1977. She retired from the US Postal Service in 1981 at the age of 55.
While in good health, Stella loved gardening, painting, crafting and entertaining family and friends.
She is survived by her son: James Vogt of Scottsdale, AZ; her daughter: Kim Sarratt of Lilburn, GA; Granddaughters: Leslie Flowers and her husband Eric of Lawrenceville, GA, Renee Vogt of Orange CA , Suzanne Vogt of Scottsdale, AZ, Lauren Wells of Grayson, GA; and great-grandson: Gabriel Wells of Grayson, GA.
There will be a viewing on Friday, February 15 from 4-6pm at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Reverend Father Gregory Loughney will celebrate a Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, February 16 at 10:00 AM at the Church of St. Bernadette, Route 390 in Canadensis. Burial will follow at Moravian Cemetery, Route 447 in Canadensis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Stella's honor may be made to the Church of St. Bernadette, c/o Most Holy Trinity Parish, 27 Fairview Avenue, Mt. Pocono, PA 18344.
