Obituary of Thomas McGovern

Thomas J. McGovern (November 8, 1932 - February 19, 2013) Thomas J. McGovern, 80, of East Stroudsburg, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at home. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of late Peter and Bertha (Schuettich) McGovern. Thomas is a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Army. He was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal. Thomas was a member of the American Legion Post 922 in Cresco and a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg. He enjoyed reading, taking long walks and spending time with his great niece and nephew Danielle and Matthew Catrillo. He is survived by his sister: Agnes Spanarkel of Ocean, NJ; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Peter and John McGovern and two sisters: Emma Coote and Margaret Karst. There will be a visitation on Monday, February 25 from 10:00 - 11:00 am at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 200 Brodhead Ave., East Stroudsburg, Pa. The Msgr. John A. Bergamo will celebrate a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00am at the Church. Cremation service was entrusted at Bolock Funeral Home Crematory
