Obituary of Lester Dyson

Lester J. Dyson (April 17, 1920 - March 25, 2013) Lester J. Dyson, 92, of Cresco, died Monday, March 25, 2013, at Heritage Hill Senior Community in Weatherly, PA. He was the loving husband of the late Cora Mae (Arthur) Dyson. Born in Pocono Lake, he was the son of the late Stanley Freeman and Mary Verna (Wilson) Dyson. A Veteran of the United States Army, he served during World War II. Lester worked for the railroad for many years and then became a teacher. He spent the rest of his career teaching Social Studies in the Pocono Mountain School District. He was a member of the Wilson-Fischer American Legion Post 413, Barger Masonic Lodge, and Keystone Consistory. In addition, he was a former Barrett Lion Club member, and member of the Shriners Band. He is survived by his son: Dr. James Dyson and wife Beverly of Cresco; sisters: Pauline Dailey of Tobyhanna and Faith Hettle of Bangor; brother: Charles Dyson and wife Barbara of East Stroudsburg; grandchildren Peter Dyson and wife Amy of Tannersville; Brittany O'Connor and husband Christopher of Cresco; great grandchildren Christopher O'Connor, Jr. and Riley O'Connor; and many nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation on Friday, March 29 from 9:00 - 10:30 AM at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Reverend Dr. David Crosby Jr. will be conducting the funeral service on Friday, March 29 at 10:30 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Keokee Church Cemetery, Cresco. Pocono Mountain fans will remember Lester from his many years selling tickets at Cardinal sporting events.
