Obituary of Howard Carlo

Howard J. "Lefty" Carlo, 70, of Tannersville, died on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the loving husband of Marie (Totaro) Carlo, to whom he had been married for 47 years. Born in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of the late Joseph and Bella (Proffman) Carlo. He grew up in Long Island, New York, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He spent most of his working career employed by the Frito Lay Company, as a salesman until his retirement in 2004. "Lefty" as a good provider for his family always had a second job which was his true passion of working on cars at a garage or service station throughout his life. In addition to his wife, Marie, he is survived by two loving daughters: Catherine Bittlingmeyer and her husband John of Tannersville, Laura Carlo of Tannersville; a brother: Conrad Carlo of The Villages, FL; a sister: Gail Wentzel of Levittown, NY; brother-in-laws:Ralph Neglia and his wife Laura of Deer Park NY, Lawrence Totaro and wife JoAnn of Las Vegas, NV and his pride and joys, five loving and devoted grandchildren : Michael T. Strouse, Jr. and his fiance, Brittany A. Kessler, Anthony J. Strouse, Gregory J. Oney, Jessica M. Oney, Katie M. Bittlingmeyer; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing on Thursday, May 9 from 2-4:00 and 7-8:30pm at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Reverend Father Richard Czachor will celebrate a Mass of Christian burial on Friday, May 10 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Victory Church, 327 Cherry Lane Road, Tannersville. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Howard "Lefty's" honor, may be made to the Davita Pocono Dialysis, 447 Office Plaza, 100 Plaza Court, Suite B., East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
