Obituary of George Leonard
George F. Leonard, 59, of Tobyhanna, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Pocono Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Mary E. (Ader) Leonard.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of Luella (Scheurer) Leonard and the late George W. Leonard.
He had many great jobs, as a young man he worked his first job at Leonard's General Store in Tobyhanna, was a cook for Camp Tegawitha in Tobyhanna, and a chef at Memory Town Tavern, he worked for Roadway for 37 years, GL towing for 27 years which later became Name your Price Auto which he owned and operated. George had many interests such as selling items on Ebay, tinkering with cars, buying and selling Model T cars and parts, enjoyed attending car shows especially Das Awkscht Fescht each year, and visiting flea markets. He was a member of St. Ann's Church.
In addition to his wife, Mary he is survived by daughters: Melissa S. Leonard of Stroudsburg; Jennifer R. Newell and husband, Nathan of Lancaster; a son: George C. Leonard of Albrightsville; brothers: Larry Leonard and wife, Joyce of Advance, N.C.; John Leonard of Gastonia, N.C.; Paul Leonard and wife, Sandy of Tobyhanna; and sisters: Chris Smith of California; Geri Beehler of Tobyhanna; grandson: Vincent Newell; granddaughter: Laureli Newell.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday, July 3, from 11 to 1 p.m. at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. A blessing service will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. A private cremation will follow at Bolock Funeral Home and Crematory.
