Obituary of Doris Headrick

Doris C. Headrick, 92, of Mount Pocono, died peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Stroudsburg. She was the loving wife of the late E.O Headrick, Jr. MD. Born in Haddenfield, NJ she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Bessie (Hall) Chew. She was a member of the Mount Pocono Methodist Church for over 50 years. Doris was a community activist. She was a member of the Pocono Mountain Public Library board for 25 years, delivered Meals on Wheels for 25 years, she was past president of the Women's Auxillary of the Mount Pocono Fire Company, past president of the Monroe County Medical Auxiliary and past president and treasurer of the Rotary Anns and Friends of Mount Pocono and a member of the Pocono Farms Women's Club and Country Club. Because of her community contributions, she was awarded the key to Mount Pocono by State Representative Mario Scavello. Before retiring she also worked for her late husband's medical office. In her free time, Doris enjoyed many hobbies that included reading, gardening, golfing, playing cards and spending time with her family. She is survived by three daughters: Judith McCoy and her husband Harry of Saylorsburg, Susan Basile and her husband Stephen of Granby, CT, Beth Michael of Raleigh, NC; her loving companion: Olin Cramer; six grandchildren: Todd McCoy, Debra Noble, Ryan Basile, Rob Basile, Amanda Michael, Josh Michael and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Donald and Edgar Chew. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, July 24 from 10 to 11 am at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Reverend Samuel Ashley-Kofi will conduct a funeral service at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in Swiftwater.
