Obituary of David Hackenberg

David Lewis Hackenberg, 56, of Pocono Pines, died Aug. 5, 2013, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. He was the husband of Patricia Ann (Kindig) Hackenberg. David was born in Newport News, Va. He graduated from Bethel High School in 1975, followed by seven years serving his country in the U.S. Army. Upon being honorably discharged, he continued his service with more than 35 years as a civilian employee with the Department of Defense as an electronics specialist. In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by his mother, Nina M. Winfree and her husband, Larry; his father, David Hackenberg and his wife, Lee; his brothers: Eric VonHeal; Joseph Radford and his wife, Amy; and Michael Hackenberg; his sisters: Robin Hancock and her husband, Brad; Christa Hackenberg; Angela Modar and her husband, Paul; and Sherri Woodward and her husband, Tony; his brother-in-law, Raymond C. Kindig and his wife, Kate; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Leroy Radford, and his brother, Mark A. Hackenberg. There will be a visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, with a service at 3 p.m., at Bolock Funeral Home & Crematory, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow at American Legion Wilson Fischer Post 413, 248 Old Route 940, Pocono Pines.
