Obituary of John Belly

John J. Belly, 81, of Long Pond, died Friday, September 20, 2013 at the VNA Hospice House of Monroe County in East Stroudsburg. He was the loving husband of Dolores (Ferrara) Belly to whom he was married to for 61 years. Born in Elizabeth, NJ he was the son of the late Karp and Albina (Dondarsky) Belly. A veteran of the United States Army he served during the Korean War. John worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for 35 years in New Jersey until his retirement. After retiring in 1993 he and his wife, Dolores, became full time residents of the Poconos. He was an avid bowler and also enjoyed playing golf. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by: two sons: John Belly and his wife Susan of Fords, NJ; Steven Belly and his wife Jeanette of East Windsor, NJ; a daughter: Diane Belly of Long Pond; a sister; Helen Murphy of Columbus, NJ; three grandchildren: Lisa, Stephanie and Danielle Belly and his beloved dog: Jeter. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, September 24 from 9-11am at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Reverend Father Gregory Loughney will celebrate a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 am at St. Mary of the Mount Church, 27 Fairview Ave., Mount Pocono following the viewing. Private cremation will follow at the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
