Obituary of Joseph Aruanno
Joseph N. Aruanno, 74, of Tobyhanna, died on Monday, October 7, 2013 at his home. He was the loving husband of Eileen (Brooks) Aruanno to whom he was married for 40 years.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Vito and Mary (Rosiello) Aruanno.
Joseph and his wife, Eileen owned and operated several restaurant businesses for over 37 years including EJ's hoagies in Mt. Pocono, Pasta Bella in Ocean city, MD and Mama Marzano's in Milford, DE. Prior to operating restaurants Joseph was the supervisor of maintenance at Long Island bus company in Farmingdale, NY and was a first class mechanic at Varsity transit in Astoria, NY.
He had a passion for working on and driving his corvette and enjoyed fixing whatever he could. He loved spending time with his wife and children, and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Eileen, he is survived by seven children: Mary Aruanno of IN, Joann Paris of FL, John Aruanno and his wife, Debra of Hazelton, Michael Aruanno and his wife, Katharina of Reeders, Thomas Aruanno and his wife, Sylwia of Cresco, Nicole Sopko and her husband, Daniel of NJ, Matthew Aruanno of MD; a brother: Robert Aruanno of NY; a sister: Rachael Carter of MD; 22 grandchildren: five great- grandchildren: and his pal Tigger.
He was preceded in death by a son: William Aruanno.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, October 10 from 2-4 and 7-830pm at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Reverend Father Joseph Kopacz will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 11 at 10:00am at St. Mary of the Mount Church, 27 Fairview Ave., Mount Pocono. Cremation is entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Joseph may be made to a charity of your choice.
