Obituary of Vincent Scalamandre

Vincent Frank Scalamandre, 85, of Swiftwater, died peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2013 at his home under the care of VNA Hospice of Monroe County. Born in Queens, N.Y., he was the son of the late Paul and Anna (Finocchio) Scalamandre. Vincent was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged as Permanent Senior Chief Petty Officer after 26 years of service. After retiring from the U.S. Navy he served 30 years with the FBI in the Administration/Logistics Department. He was the recipient of a number of distinguished naval service and FBI awards. He belonged to the American Legion, the VFW and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Stroudsburg. He was of the Catholic faith and a member at St. Mary of the Mount Church in Mount Pocono. He is survived by a brother: John Scalamandre of Mount Pocono and many nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing on Monday, October 14 from 6-8:00 pm at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Reverend Father Joseph Kopacz will conduct a funeral service on Tuesday, October 15 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery in at Stroudsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Vincent, may be to VNA Hospice of Monroe County, 502 VNA Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301 or to Most Holy Trinity Parish, 27 Fairview Ave. Mt.
