Obituary of Thomas Burns

Thomas P. Burns "Burnzy" 48, of Pocono Summit, died on Friday, October 25, 2013 after a courageous battle with Esophageal Cancer and ARDS. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Christine (Janus) Burns. Born in Burbank, Ca. he was the son of the late Joseph Burns and Roberta (Doucette) Flanagan. He was the proud owner of Burnzy's Automotive in Bartonsville. He was a brilliant automotive mechanic and restoration expert. He had a passion for resurrecting rusty vintage junk yard castoffs into prize winning hot rods. He also enjoyed sharing his automotive knowledge as well as learning from his fellow hot rodders by hosting a cruise every Thursday night. In addition to his wife Christine, he is survived by daughter: Jessica Sargent and her husband, Doug; sons: Donald Burns and his wife, Aimee and Lance Corporal Daniel Burns and his wife, Shanta; and an "adopted" son, Steven Irwin; one sister: Elaine Wihelm; three brothers: William Burns and his wife, Janet, James Burns and Kenneth Burns; many nieces and nephews: Samantha, Ashley, Dana, Stacy, Jackie, Jimmy, Mindy, Kenny, Kimberly and Michael. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, October 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco, PA. Pastor Ron Erb will conduct a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's School of Nursing-To create a scholarship fund for students pursuing a career in Critical Care Nursing.
