Obituary of Arvella Magdzak

Arvella (Price) Magdzak, 92, of Cresco, died Tuesday, October 29, at Geisinger-CMC Hospice, Scranton. She was the beloved wife of Donald Magdzak for 48 years. Born in Canadensis, she was the daughter of the late William "Bill" and Velma (Sommers) Price. Arvella spent 17 years with Mount Airy Lodge as Personnel Director and in the accounting office. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed deep-sea and freshwater fishing, hunting and gardening. She was a beekeeper for 14 years, was an accomplished artist and was featured earlier this year in the Scranton newspaper with some of her paintings. Arvella was a member of Moravian Church in Canadensis. In addition to her husband Donald, she is survived by daughters: Gayle Cote and her husband Richard of Glenoma, WA.; Brenda Gravel DeJoice and her husband Jim of Woodbury TN.; Merrilee Gravel Scott and her husband Steve of New Hope; step-daughter: Jennifer Magdzak Sembrat and husband Heath of Williamsburg, VA.; brothers and sisters: LeMar Price, Douglas Price and wife Barbara, Dale Price and his wife Sharon Rose and Vivian Price Miller all of Canadensis, and Alberta Price Senn of Narberth, PA, nine grandchildren, five great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Arvella was preceded in death by her brother Winfield Price and her sister Elaine Price McKenna. There will be a memorial service conducted by Pastor Gregg Schafer held on Tuesday, November 5, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. Friends and family may gather from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
