Obituary of Charles Metzgar

Charles W. Metzgar Sr., 87, of Swiftwater died on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley in Wilkes-Barre. He was the loving husband of the late Virginia (Kresge) Metzgar. Born in Stroudsburg, PA he was the son of the late Charles and Anna Elizabeth (Christman) Metzgar. Charles was a veteran of the United States Army who served from 1944 to 1946. He went on to work for Gray Cheverolet as a mechanic for 20 years and retired in 1986. He is survived by his daughter: Cathy Stout and her husband Cliff of Cresco; Brothers: Harold Metzgar of Swiftwater, Kenneth Metzgar of Reading and Donald Metzgar of Whitehall; sisters: Joyce Schoch of Swiftwater and Anna Mae Miller of Reeders; grandson: Roger Metzgar and his wife Dawn of Long Pond; great-grandchild: Julian Metzgar. Charles was preceded in death by his wife Virginia, his son Charles Jr., brothers Ed and James Metzgar, and his sister Adalaide Engel. There will be a viewing on Saturday, November 16, from 10 to 11:30 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. Pastor Barbara Housley will conduct a service at 11:30 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery, Swiftwater.
