Obituary of Patrick Grace

Patrick Joseph Grace Jr., of Pocono Lake was just 76 years young when he passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, N.Y. He was the loving husband of Judith A. (Hilbert) Grace with whom he shared 47 years of marital bliss. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on December 27, 1936 just ahead of twin brother Frank, Patrick was the son of the late Patrick and Margaret (Devereaux) Grace. He and his twin were just 2 years old when their mother passed away. Their dad remarried and they were raised with much love by Frances (Dobby) Grace. Retired for 14 years, our dad enjoyed a very active lifestyle, with golf in the morning, tennis in the afternoon and then taking our mom dancing into the evening, when they weren't entertaining seniors around the Poconos. In less than 3 months, dad was overcome by pulmonary fibrosis and passed away; but before he left, continued to brighten everyone's world around him. His doctors and nurses were absolutely charmed by his good nature and sense of humor, and they, like us learned to love him. It's an amazing thing to see a man affect so many people in a positive way. Our dad had that power and shared his love with everyone around him. He was truly amazing and an example of how we should all go about our lives. He taught us that every day is a gift and we should make the best of it not just for ourselves but for those around us that we can affect in a positive way. In addition to being the most amazing man we've ever known, Patrick was a retired Iron Worker for Local 40 in New York, an active member of the St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish where he sang in the choir, and the Lay Director for this year's Pocono Men's Cornerstone Retreat. He was also a 3rd degree member of The Knights of Columbus. Patrick was an active member on the planning committee for the Arrowhead Lake Lodge and on the Maintenance Committee where he served as Co-Chairman. Most recently, Patrick was the founder, producer, director and star of the Arrowhead Lake Cabaret group, a group of seniors who sing and perform at nursing homes and senior complexes throughout Monroe County. Patrick is survived by his wife Judith and their 3 children: Patrick and his wife Kimberley of Tappan, N.Y., Kerrin Anne Thompson and her husband BT of Scotchtown, N.Y.; and Brian and his wife Lori of Breezy Point, N.Y. Patrick's passing precedes his twin brother and singing partner Frank and his wife Carol; brother and golf partner William and his wife Patty, sister-in-law Angela Grace, brother John and his wife Ann, as well as many nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved. Patrick loved and was so very proud of his ten grandchildren: Keigan, Brendin, Daniel, Padraic, Olivia, Makenzie, Maggie, Maeve, Liam and Molly Cate; and as a man of great faith reminds them, "Always treat others the way you would like to be treated." He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas, and his sister Mona Grace. There will be a viewing on Wed., 12/11 from 7-8:30 p.m. and Thurs., 12/12 from 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, (GPS Directions: 1 Peterson Hill Road, Cresco, PA). The Reverend Father John Boyle will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Fri., 12/13 at 10 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, PO Box O, Pocono Pines, PA. 18350. We love you and miss you Dad, and will always cherish the memories Thank You Your family.
