Obituary of Barbara Stephens

Barbara J. Stephens, 71, of Canadensis, died on Monday, December 30, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late George Stephens. Born in Queens, N.Y. she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Eva (Yucker) Brooks. Barbara was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Church of St. Bernadette in Canadensis. She enjoyed playing Bingo and pressing her luck in gambling, often frequenting Mt. Airy Casino with friends. She was an avid book reader who also liked to relax by watching television, especially the cooking channel. She had a love of the beach and had many memories of boating with family and friends. She is survived by her three children: Mary Zeltins and her husband Andis of Medford, N.Y., George Stephens and his wife Page of Charlotte, N.C. and Kimberly Stephens and her fiance Billy Pipolo of Canadensis, a brother: Dennis Brooks and his wife Noel of Vero Beach, FL, and her seven grandchildren: Michael, Zachary, Andra, Hayden, Olivia, Billy and Carter. Family and friends may gather on Sunday, January 5 for a visitation from 1 to 3pm at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Reverend Father Gregory Loughney will conduct a blessing service at 3pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations, in honor of Barbara, may be made to: AWSOM Animal Shelter, PO Box 13, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. Cremation is entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
