Obituary of Patricia Hannon
Pat Hannon, 85, of Pocono Pines, died on January 15, 2014 at home. She was the wife of the late Jim Hannon.
Born in White Plains, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Florence (Cronin) Kenney.
Pat's family moved to Bloomfield, NJ when she was entering high school. After graduating from Bloomfield High School she worked as a Stenographer for Western Electric in downtown Manhattan until her marriage to Jim in 1952. They built a home in Florham Park, NJ where they raised their six children. The Hannon family moved to Lake Naomi in 1973 when Jim accepted the job as Director of Management Information Systems at the Tobyhanna Army Depot.
Pat wore many hats, but the ones she liked best were Mom and Grandma. She was Den Mother for each of her three boys, an assistant Brownie and Girl Scout leader for each of her three girls. She was a member of the Clymer Library where she volunteered for 18 years. Pat was secretary to the Clymer Library Board of Governors for many years and then became the first paid employee acting as Librarian. She retired in 1992 and served on the Board of Governors of Lake Naomi for many years and was subsequently secretary to the board under four different presidents. Pat moved to Pinecrest in 2002. She was a faithful member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, formerly Our Lady of the Lake Church. Pat was a member of the Lazarus Committee since its inception and was also a member of Our Lady's Rosary Makers.
She is survived by her son James Hannon from Parsippany, NJ, her daughter Patricia and her husband Dr. Eric Jacobson of Northborough, MA, her son Dr. Peter Hannon and his wife Genie of Danville,PA, her son Robert Hannon and his wife Nancy of Wappinger Falls, NY, her daughter Cathleen Emhof and her husband Daniel of Alexandria, VA, her daughter Carolyn Haling and her husband Douglas of Canton, GA, and her 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband James "Jim" in 1989, a sister Helen Kenney in 2003 and her brother William in 2008.
The Reverend Father Daniel Yenkevich will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 25 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, Pocono Pines. There will be a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church. Interment will follow at Pocono Lake Cemetery.
