Obituary of Jean Cramer

Jean W. Cramer, 92, of Stroudsburg, died peacefully on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Grace Park. She was the widow of Berne F. Cramer, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. Jean was born on Dec. 20, 1921, in Scranton. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Rhoda (Jenkins) MacAskie, and was raised in Elmhurst. She graduated from Scranton High School in 1940. She was a member of the Mount Pocono United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. Jean was a homemaker and accomplished baker; she donated many baked goods to raise money for community fundraisers. She served the community in other ways. Jean delivered Meals on Wheels for 25 years and also served as a Gray Lady at Pocono Medical Center. She is survived by her daughter, Harriet Cramer of Stroudsburg; a son, Kenneth Cramer and his wife, Doreen, of Moscow; four grandchildren: Abigail Tomsho and her husband, Gregg Hoover, of Pen Argyl; Janet Tomsho of Allentown; Donald Cramer of Milwaukee, Wis.; and Kelly Cramer of Moscow; and two great-grandchildren, Russell and Katya Hoover of Pen Argyl. In addition to her husband, Berne, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald Cramer and her grandson, Aaron Tomsho. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday, Jan. 24, at Mount Pocono United Methodist Church, 12 Church Ave., Mount Pocono. The Rev. Samuel Kofi Ashley will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery, 901 Bryant St., Stroudsburg.
