Obituary of Margaret Lewis
Margaret M. "Peggy" Lewis, 88, of Bethlehem and formerly of Mountainhome, passed away on Tuesday, March 29 at Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem. She was the wife of Thomas J. Lewis.
Born in Archbald, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Julia (Newfrock) Ritzco. She graduated from Archbald High School.
She was a member of St. Bernadette's Church in Canadensis. She served the community of Barrett Township through her membership in the Barrett Women's Club, volunteering for many organizations. She also volunteered at the annual Barrett Carnival which supported many services throughout the township. Her experiences in employment always centered on the retail business, working in her early years at William's Drug Store, and then later at Pocono Mineral & Gem. Later in her career, she worked as manager in her son's business, Short Stop Sports, for 10 years.
In addition to her husband, Thomas, she is survived by four sons; Joseph Lewis and his wife, Kristen of Bethlehem, Thomas Lewis, Jr. and his wife Judy of Boynton Beach, FL, Michael Lewis and his wife Donna of East Stroudsburg, David Lewis and his wife Pam Foster of Lake Wallenpaupack; a sister, Helen Keefe and her husband Joseph of South Carolina; and four grandchildren, Michael Lewis, Jr., Ryan Lewis, Drew Lewis, and Kelly Fallenstein. She is also survived by a great grandson, Jacob Andrew Fallenstein.
There will be a viewing on Sunday, April 3 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, Rt. 940 in Cresco. The Reverend Father Joseph Kopacz will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 4 at St. Bernadette's Church in Canadensis. Interment will follow at Pocono Lake Cemetery.
