Obituary of John Tietjen

John C. Tietjen John C.Tietjen, 76, of Clarks Summit, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014. He was the loving husband of the late Martha Tietjen. John was born in Bronx, N.Y. and was the son of late John and Magdelaine (Althen) Tietjen. Before his retirement, John worked as a train dispatcher for the New York Central Railroad and the Long Island Railroad. John enjoyed watching the Yankees and going to baseball games and seeing plays in NY. He also loved fishing, traveling and music; but most of all loved being with his family. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all. He is survived by his sons: John Tietjen and his companion, Lori Riede Dunlop, of Paradise Valley; Christopher Tietjen and his wife, Sharon, of Lisbon, CT.; daughter: Jennifer Burrier and her husband, Richard of Newfoundland; a sister Marleen Schumacker of Yonkers; grandchildren: Erin Donahue and her husband Jason, Michael Tietjen and his companion Lindsay Noon, Sarah Burrier, Maxwell Burrier, Aaron Tietjen and Courtney Dugas; great-grandchild: Brayden Donahue. There will be a viewing Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. A memorial service beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The family would like to send special thanks to the staff at Julia Ribaudo Nursing Home and the 8th floor nursing staff and 5th floor physical therapy department at Regional Hospital of Scranton.
