Obituary of Gerald Oney

Gerald "Jerry" Oney, Sr., 76, of Mount Pocono, died on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the VNA Hospice House in Wilkes-Barre. He was the loving husband of the late Mildred Ann Oney. Born in Paradise Township, he was the son of the late Stanley and Ruth (Miller) Oney. Jerry was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served in both the Cold and Korean War. He spent most of his working career as an Automotive Mechanic. In is younger years, Jerry enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He is survived by his children: Gerald Oney, Jr. and his wife Tammy of Port Jervis, NY, Brenda Carey and her husband James of Newfoundland, Debra Strunk of Paradise Valley, Gregory Oney of Mount Pocono and John Oney and his wife Jennifer of Lakeland Fl.; sister: Gloria Lutz of Canadensis; his six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Mildred, He was preceded in death by his brothers Stanley Oney, Jr., Ronald Oney and his sister Ruthanne Lowe. There will be a viewing from 11 to 12 on Saturday, March 15 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. Pastor Che Weber will conduct a funeral service at 12 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Keokee Cemetery on Keokee Chapel Lane, Cresco.
