Obituary of Luella Leonard
Luella J. Leonard, 78, of Tobyhanna, passed away leaving behind her loving family on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the loving wife of the late George W. Leonard.
Born in Martin, ND, on March 22, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Burtha (Brumhagen) Scheurer.
Luella had lived in many places in her childhood including Branchville & Newton, N.J. before residing in Tobyhanna. She worked in several sewing factories in Tobyhanna and Mt. Pocono. Luella and her husband together previously owned Dieroff's Trailer Park & Leonard's General Store in Tobyhanna. After retiring they traveled the U.S. in their RV before settling down in Bonita Spring, Fl. for several years and eventually made full circle and returned back to Tobyhanna. Luella was very talented. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and doing needlework projects such as plastic canvas, tapestry and embroidery as well as her love for sewing and shell crafts from her shell collection, she brought back from Florida.
She will be deeply missed by her loving children: Lawrence J. Leonard and his wife Joyce of Advance, NC, Christine A. Smith of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA, Geraldine M. Beehler of Tobyhanna, John M. Leonard of Gastonia, NC, Paul R. Leonard and his wife Sandra of Tobyhanna and her 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Luella was preceded in death by her husband George W. Leonard and her son George F. Leonard.
There will be a viewing from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 21 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road. There will be a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 22 at St. Ann Parish, Main Street, Tobyhanna. Burial will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Moscow.
