Obituary of Joseph Angelo

Joseph R. Angelo, 60, of Pocono Summit, died Monday, April 4, 2011 at the VNA Hospice House of Monroe County in East Stroudsburg, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Linda M. (Baum) Angelo, to whom he was married for 24 years. Born in Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late Vincent and Stella (Galasso) Angelo. Joe received his BA and BS degrees from Stony Brook University in Long Island, NY. He was employed in sales and engineering in Long Island, New York. Joe moved to the Poconos from Hauppauge, Long Island in June of 2004. He made many friends and acquaintances over the last six years that shared common experiences with him. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus , and a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Pocono Pines. Joe helped his friends doing voluntary home maintenance. He loved the outdoors and wildlife in the Poconos, but especially loved his dogs and all animals. He was also a 4th degree Black Belt in the Japanese Karate Association in New York City. He adored spending time with his grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew Zaccaria. In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by a daughter, Colette Zaccaria and her husband Nick (the brother Joe never had); two grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew Zaccaria; and his children with fur, his dogs, Heidi, Alfie, Buddy, Charlie, and Danny. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, April 6, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, Rt. 940 in Cresco. The Reverend Father John Boyle and Reverend Father John McHale will con-celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, April 7 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Pocono Pines. Private cremation will follow at the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
